FEATURED ETSY SHOP: Hot Lava Clothing

Girls A Line Tunic Dress Damask Sugar Spice
Today, I'd like to introduce you to one of my favorite shops on Etsy - Hot Lava Clothing. I was recently introduced to this shop through a blog giveaway, which I was lucky enough to win. My daughter was thrilled to receive the Halloween skirt, and requests to wear it as often as I can wash it. Due to her thin figure and the elastic waist band, I won't be surprised if she's still able to wear it next Halloween. The quality is top notch, and the fabric has not faded at all after repeated washings. I asked Tammy to tell me more about herself and the history of her shop:

"Hot Lava Clothing offers custom handmade boutique style clothing for kids and a limited women's line inspired by Hawaii’s tropical landscape and lifestyle.  I started HLC because I found it hard to find quality clothing that fit my younger children who are slim, and I often had to alter things anyway.  My goal is to provide customers with top quality items at reasonable prices and excellent customer service.  I love designing and creating clothes for my own kids and enjoy sharing them with others too.  Everything I sell is handmade from start to finish.
Girls A Line Mini Dress Winter Holiday

I am a busy mom of 5 (yes five) and have been pleasantly surprised at how my business has continued to grow much like the kids.  I’ve been fortunate enough to work from home for nearly 10 years now.  My work background is Retail Management/Buying, Home Mortgage Financing, and Real Estate - all of which have provided me valuable experience that has helped me with my current business.  While I enjoyed each of those over the past 20 years, I found myself looking for something more creative.  Ever since I can remember, I’ve always dabbled in some sort of craft.  I learned how to knit and crochet at 8, did a lot of card/scrapbooking, and of course, sewing.  I’d really like to try jewelry making but haven’t yet, but I think it would be something fun for my kids to do with me.

You can find Hot Lava Clothing on Etsy, Artfire, Facebook, and Twitter.

If you live on or visit the Big Island, you can find exclusive HLC designs not found at my online shops at the Olivia Clare Boutique in Hawi.

You are invited to join the HLC fan page at http://www.facebook.com/HotLavaClothing.  This is a great way to see what I'm up to and for Special Fan Only Discounts!"

I hope you enjoy Hot Lava Clothing as much as I do.

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog, Beaded Relics. I'll start out by giving you a little background on myself. I'm a 30 year old mother, jewelry designer, and administrative assistant. I live in Boston, MA, USA with my husband and three year old daughter. I began designing jewelry out of frustration at not being able to not find jewelry that suited my tastes. I quickly progressed to making jewelry for other people that I know, and in July 2010, I decided to open my Etsy shop. I sell handmade jewelry, including necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. I particularly love designing with antiqued metals, but also love using a wide variety of other materials.

I love to hunt for new, interesting beads and findings online, in local bead shops, and at bead shows. My stash has become quite large. I keep many of these beads in a unit with several shallow drawers. This evening, the bottom of one of those drawers partially fell out the bottom due to the weight of the beads. I guess I better start creating more and slow down on buying new beads! I created six new pieces this weekend, which will be listed in my shop within the next few days.

I will be writing about new designs, other handmade artists that I admire, jewelry making techniques, and other related topics. Interested? Just follow via RSS or Google Friend Connect (links on the right) in order to receive notification of new posts.
